Understanding the Benefits of Blogs

After doing some research and diving into different education blogs I found that they are great resources for different activities in the classroom as well as navigating difficult situations in the classroom. I believe that these blogs will serve as valuable go-to's when seeking a second opinion or a refresher for lessons.

One blog that particularly caught my attention on Middle Web focuses on the age group I aspire to teach—middle school or upper elementary ages. The one blogger that caught my attention the most was I WILL SCREW THIS UP by Dina Strasser. Strasser covers a broad range of topics, including mental health, literacy, and other crucial classroom-related subjects. One noteworthy post discusses why educators shouldn't solely blame social media for classroom difficulties. It's a resourceful blog for educators grappling with challenging situations in the classroom.

Dangerously Irrevlent, led by McLeod, delves into controversial topics that expanded my perspective. One blog post that stood out to me was “Extinguishing students’ curiosity in learning”. McLeod emphasizes the importance of nurturing curiosity, exploration, and risk-taking in the classroom. It prompted me to explore more topics of a similar nature.

Dr. Justin Tarte's blog, "Life of an Educator," offers a different perspective on teaching. Tarte discusses the evolving culture and changing needs of students in a classroom. especially with Generation Alpha. As educators, we must adapt our teaching styles for optimal learning, considering that students today learn differently than those from two decades ago. Tarte's blog features multiple posts to help educators adjust to the new needs of their students.
